Payments for e-commerce, without the runaround

Online sales are card-not-present, which means higher interchange and more exposure to fraud and chargebacks than a tap at the counter. The gateway, fraud settings and how your store sends order data all affect what you pay and how many disputes you see.

We'll look at your store platform, average order and product type, then recommend a gateway and merchant account that fit. If you also sell in person, we can tie both to one account so reporting stays in one place.

  • Payment gateway for your store platform
  • Subscriptions and saved cards
  • AVS, CVV and fraud filters
  • Chargeback alerts and dispute help
  • In-person and online on one account
  • Payment links for social and custom orders

What a good e-commerce setup includes

Built around the way you take orders and get paid.

Website checkout

A gateway that plugs into many common store platforms.

Subscriptions

Recurring billing for boxes and memberships.

Fraud tools

Address and security-code checks, plus filters.

Disputes

Notices and help gathering evidence.

Payment links

Sell through social media, text or email.

Online and in person

One account for the website and pop-ups.

Take every way your customers pay

One merchant account can cover the counter, the phone, the website and the job site.

Credit & debit cards

Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express (Amex may need separate approval), tapped, dipped, swiped or keyed.

Digital wallets

Apple Pay, Google Pay and other contactless wallets on any NFC-ready terminal.

Online & invoices

Payment links, a virtual terminal for phone orders, and website checkout through a payment gateway.

Mobile & on-site

Wireless terminals and phone readers for deliveries, job sites, markets and events.

ACH & eCheck

Bank-to-bank payments for larger invoices and recurring billing, usually at a lower cost than cards.

Recurring billing

Card-on-file and scheduled payments for memberships, retainers and service plans.

Three ways to price card processing

There's no single best model. We'll show you each one priced against your real numbers, then you choose.

01

Flat rate

One percentage plus a per-sale fee on every card. Easy to read, but you pay the same rate on a cheap debit card as on a premium rewards card.

  • Predictable
  • Simple statements
  • Often costs more as volume grows

Fits: low volume, seasonal or brand-new sellers

02

Interchange-plus

You pay the card networks' wholesale cost (interchange and assessments) plus a fixed, disclosed markup. Every layer shows on your statement.

  • Most transparent
  • Markup stays fixed
  • Usually lowest cost at higher volume

Fits: established businesses, larger tickets, B2B

03

Cash discount / dual pricing

Your posted prices account for card costs, and customers paying cash get a lower price. Card sales help cover processing instead of your margin.

  • Offsets much of your processing cost
  • Clear signage and receipts
  • Not a surcharge

Fits: restaurants, auto, retail, service shops

Why business owners work with Cedarline

We're a small, independent agent. That means fewer layers between you and the person who set up your account.

One person who answers

You work with Tony directly, from the first statement review to go-live and after. No call-center queue to start.

Pricing you can read

Every quote shows the rate, per-item fee, monthly fees and any equipment terms in writing before you sign.

Options, not one platform

We compare programs from several partner processors and POS platforms, so the setup fits your business instead of the other way around.

Set up correctly

Cash discount signage, receipt settings, tip and tax settings, and test transactions are handled before you go live.

Get set up in three steps

From first call to first sale, without the guesswork.

  1. Send a statement or tell us your plans

Existing business? Send one recent processing statement. Opening soon? Tell us what you'll sell and when.

  2. Compare your options

You get a side-by-side of pricing models, equipment and terms, priced against your numbers.

  3. Go live, tested

Approval, equipment programming, signage and test transactions, done before you rely on it.

Approval timing depends on the processor's underwriting. Most complete applications get a decision in a few business days.

Frequently asked questions

Why do online payments cost more than in person?

Card-not-present transactions carry higher interchange because the card isn't physically verified. Fraud tools and sending complete order data help keep costs and disputes down.

Will it work with my store platform?

Many store platforms support outside gateways, and some require their own processor. Tell us which platform you use and we'll check before you apply.

Do some products need a high-risk account?

Some do, such as supplements, CBD, subscriptions with free trials and certain digital goods. See high-risk accounts.

Not sure what you're paying, or what you'll need?

Send a recent statement or tell us about the business you're opening. You'll get a plain-English breakdown and options, with no cost or obligation.
