Why the discount percentage looks smaller
If you raise a $25.00 price by 4% to $26.00, the cash discount that brings it back to $25.00 is $1.00, which is 3.85% of the posted price. The adjustment and the discount are the same dollars measured from different starting points. Programs disclose the discount on signage and receipts, so make sure the numbers match what your program uses.
